memorials and monuments!

Hello! It is now early early early thursday morning! infact it is 12:01 here in D.C and we are sitting in our warm and cozy hotel room! AHHHHH you have no idea how good it feels to be in here! Today was a tour day where we visited the Lincoln memorial which was closed off since monday due to the concert, and the Jefferson memorial and also a trip around capital hill, the supreme court, and the cannon building where the representatives meet. Overall it was a pretty smooth day the sun was out! It didnt do much because it was still in the low 20's throughout the day! We witnessed history and it feels amazing! Mostly everyones conversations today were about  Tuesdays activities and how amazing the experience was even though we nearly froze to death! I'm not going to lie some of us got teary eyed during obama's speech including some very tough men uhmm reinhart cough cough! Really the energy of the crowd and the words of our new leader truly made the moment feel surreal in a way. With every word that he read the army of little american flags would wave and the crowd just kept getting louder and louder. Everyone and i mean Everyone had a smile on their face it no longer mattered how cold it was because we were all just thrilled to be a part of history and sharing that with millions of others surrounding the capital  that day.
That same day getting back to the hotel was the worst! the subway was being protected by the national gaurd because it was so crowded down in the terminals that some people were being pushed down on the tracks. There were thousands waiting that day and it litterally took us about 2 hours to get to our hotel which is only 2 miles away from the national mall. I know you're thinking why wouldn't we just walk if its so close but you have to realize that we had woken up at 5:30 that day and we were freezing cold and when you mix that all together it doesn't help! Being on the subway is much better, there's a massive crowd that draws in body heat and No walking!! lol

The ceremonies have begun starting with a choir singing ,'america'
Its freezing cold here....they said the actual temperature is 22 dg but
it feels like 10! Its a numbing cold!
Waiting for obama is turning painful!
P.s some of the verdugo kids met up with mark brown from abc 7 and had
interviews from him so be on the lookout for those! And a student
caroline gill is to be featured on the ellen degeneres show also!

We are now watching as the members of the house of representatives the
senate and various diplomats and celebrities make their way to the
ceremonies. The sun is out and it has been for an hour or two but the
weather still feels like its only 10 degrees out!

Inauguration day!

Hey everyone! Day 3 in D.C and it is finally here.... INAUGURATION DAY!
It is now 7:35 in dc and the crowd is halfway to the washington
monument! Which if you've ever been to Dc its pretty far from the
capitol! Were so excited to be here! We had to get up at around 5:30 in
order to catch one of the first subways. We finally made it onto the
national mall an hour later! Were excited and can't wait until it gets
started! :)

Inuagural concert

Hey there everyone! Its currently 10:10 pm here in crystal city,
virginia and I have never been happier to get to bed! All of us from
Verdugo hills are exhausted once more!! So our day began at 7 am with a
quick breakfast followed by a workshop from 9-10 where the topic was
presidential roles. We then boarded our buses and went on a tour to the
FDR Memorial where there were frozen waterfalls and slippery walkways.
We were then bussed over to the reagan trade center to get some lunch
and it ended consuming more of our time than expected! We then rushed
over to the lincoln memorial for the concert but had the worst place
possible! There were people everywhere! You couldn't walk through or
around anywhere so we couldn't watch the jumbo trons or watch the actual
show!

After we had to get up from 15 street over to 18 street and find the
cross street to L street when we were on C street. It was cold and
dreadful so this day was not very exciting for us. We didn't get to see
or speak to mr. Reinhart or mr. Mccrary so were a little upset. Overall
the weather was fine and the day could have been better but we survived
and peacefully awaiting the great day!

First day!!!

Hey everyone! It is now day one in washington and it is
freeeeeeezing! We arrived at 9:30 am eastern time so 6.30
california time. We were then transferred over to our hotel which is the
crystal gateway marriot in virginia around 10:30. Since then it's been
all about chasing down mr reinhart across DC! The weather is horrible!
Its cold and windy....it practically numbs your face and you can't stand
around because you literally freeze! I can hardly wait for tomorrows
concert but I know that standing 4 hours in the single digit weather
will be dreadful! For tonight I will not post up pictures because we are
all exhausted! So watch for tomorrow
